Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United American. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran is one of ABC's original Shark investors has been part of each episode of Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals as of February of 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment to pay for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 kids born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was always changing jobs during Corcoran's entire life. At times, the family relied upon free food delivery from a friendly local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as a drunkard who sometimes treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially when having consumed alcohol. Corcoran had difficulty in school, and she discovered later that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated in a Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
